Dear Colleague, As the new president of the Worldwide Initiative for Diabetes Education (WorldWIDE), I want to wish everyone a wonderful holiday season. WorldWIDE was busy in 2007 with successful symposia and web consults held in the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Mexico, Hungary, China, Brazil and India. In addition, we had numerous programs available on the website throughout the year. We look forward to expanding our programs even further throughout the world and on the Web in 2008. I’d also like to take this opportunity to formally thank Professor Philip Home of Newcastle University for all of his expertise, hard work, and dedication towards the success of WorldWIDE over the last 7 years as president. Under his guidance, the foundation has grown exponentially and has become a world-recognized provider of physician education on diabetes management. We are very pleased that he has agreed to stay on board as a member of the Board of Directors. While he will certainly be busy planning IDF’s 20th World Diabetes Congress in the fall of 2009, we look forward to his continued involvement with WorldWIDE programs and future planning. As you may already know, WorldWIDE is a charitable foundation that provides training, education, and information about diabetes management to physicians and healthcare providers. The mission of WorldWIDE is to challenge and shape the future management of diabetes in order to provide optimal treatment for all patients and to enhance professional education for physicians and other diabetes professionals. Should you wish to learn more about WorldWIDE, please contact Catherine Capparelli via phone at 212-771-9103 or email at choc_ww@worldwidediabetes.org to schedule an appointment with me, and visit our website at www.worldwidediabetes.org. Again on behalf of WorldWIDE, I wish you a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2008! Best regards,
Jaime A. Davidson, MD, FACP, FACE
