AR has a strong family history of Type 2 diabetes; she has a father and two older siblings with the condition. AR does not smoke or drink alcohol. She has central adiposity. Her current diet is high in chicken, wheat, rice, eggs, and milk. Currently, she is essentially sedentary at home for most of the day because she has domestic help to care for the home.
AR is strongly adherent to her prescribed therapeutic regimen. She has no history of intolerance to metformin or any of her additional medications.
AR has had five normal pregnancies and has five children.
